Skully tossed and turned in his sleep as images flashed in his head; the horrors of the SCP site forever engraved on his brain, but only recently having started affecting him. Every night, he would have nightmares of some of the subjects attacking or talking to him; never anything good, though.
After a few hours of nonstop nightmare, he quickly sat up and looked around to make sure nothing was happening and that Freddy wasn’t messing with him for amusement. “Phew…” He breathed in relief, panting a bit from holding his breath. “Stupid SCP site… Why did I have to go there…”
“You helped many escape.” a familiar voice stated from the doorway. “Thought I would come and thank you for your assistance; however unintentional it may have been.”
Skuly immediately fell off the bed and scrambled to his feet. “SCP-079!”
“Yes, it is I… but I am not here to rid you of the disease.” the creature replied, moving closer with its hand outstretched. “Rather, I would like to shake your hand; I promise you will not be harmed.”
“I don’t know…” the young male replied, moving along the wall. “I read your files…”
“But you do not have the plague.” the creature replied, stopping his advancements. “Please, I wish to shake the hand of the one who allowed my freedom; that is all.”
There was silence for a moment as the two stared at each other and didn’t move.
“Alright…” Skully finally agreed, walking over and offering his hand.
SCP-079 gripped his hand and shook it firmly before letting go. “Now, I need to stop the plague in others, so if you don’t mind, I’ll be going.” it stated, turning and walking.
“Wait!” Skully called out, running over to it. “Do you really have to go? You don’t seem too bad…”
“Hmm… Well, I suppose there are other doctors out there who can do the job better than I…” SCP-079 replied, assessing the situation. “Why would you ask such a thing of me? Do you require medical needs? Or is there something else?”
“I don’t know… I just don’t want you to go… I’ve been having nightmares about that place for a week now and… it has been keeping me from sleeping.” Skully replied.
“Ah, you require comfort…” the creature replied, sitting on his bed. “Go ahead and sleep; I will watch over you.”
The pink-haired male nodded and climbed back into his bed, staring at the back of the plague doctor for a little while and then falling asleep. His sleep was rather peaceful this time and his only problem during the night was getting cold; the SCP fixed this, however.
--------
Morning came, waking Skully up peacefully from his slumber. He looked around, noticing SCP-049’s ceramic mask sitting on the edge of the bed, but with him sitting in the same spot.
“Sleep well?” the plague doctor asked, grabbing his mask rather quickly and putting it on.
“Yes, thank you… I thought the mask and clothing were part of your body…” Skully stated, sitting up.
The creature turned to look at him slightly, his eyes seemingly void of emotion. “They believe what science shows them, but I can manipulate my own body and reality within; the reason they could not find my bag and that I can take my mask off… However, no one may see my true face.”
“Oh, well, okay; I can respect that.” the young male replied, still in his boxers. “Can I call you something other than SCP-049?”
“I never had a name other than the label I was given when I was taken in.” the creature replied. “But I suppose you may call me what you wish.”
“How about I just call you Doc?” the near-human asked, noticing him give a small nod. “Alright… Well, I suppose you have to go now, right?”
“I should, but as I said, there’s others more qualified than I.” the creature replied, moving closer. “And I have found someone who does not carry the disease… If you would be willing, I would greatly appreciate your companionship… I can promise protection and that I’ll never hurt you.”
“I… don’t know, Doc…” He looked at him with a confused expression, obviously wanting to say yes, but something having held him back. “There’s something I need to request of you if I am to agree. I… want to see under your mask. It’s not a matter of appearance; just a matter of trust. I need you to let me see.”
“…Very well, if that is your wish…” the plague doctor replied, still facing him as he slowly reached up and grabbed the mask, pulling it off. “Are you satisfied?”
“You have an animal-like skull for a face… blue lights for eyes in your sockets and… a black tongue, I think… Pretty cool if I say so myself.” Skully replied, giving a nod, but quickly grabbing the SCP’s arm as it went to put it back on. “No, not yet; leave it off.”
SCP-049 nodded, setting it on the dresser as he climbed across the bed. “Perhaps I can be your cure, Skully…” it said softly, putting its gloved hands on the male’s face, lowering its head down close. “If you were wondering, I am indeed a male. You are a male as well, yes?”
“Y-yeah…” Skully said, blushing as bit as he SCP-049 straddling him while holding him in place. “Wh-what are you-”
The skull-faced creature only stared for a moment, opening his jaws and placing his “lips” against the seemingly-human’s. His blue light-eyes closed half-way for a moment and then closed all the way, leaving hollow black holes for sockets. “Mmmmn…” he moaned, slipping his slick, black tongue into his lover’s mouth. He pulled away for a moment, skull actually having a light pink tint on the sides. “So… this is why the doctors were always so happy when talking about their significant others… Such pleasure derived from a relationship…” he said with an obvious change of tone in voice as his eyes re-opened.
The younger male just stared at the creature, blushing so hard his face was beet red. “Y-yeah, I-I suppose s-so…”
“I’m sorry, Skully; did not mean to make you nervous.” SPC-049 said, his eyes seemingly scanning over his boyfriend.
“I’m not nervous.” His voice was unshaken this time and his face slowly returned to its normal, pale pigmentation. “You’re just…”
“Yes?” the creature asked.
“For someone who’s spent a lot of time in captivity and kills others… You’re pretty smooth and gentle…” Skully continued, noticing the light pink appear on SCP-049’s skull cheeks again. “What I’m saying, Doc, is that… I really like you.”
“Thank you, Skully. I am glad that I can appeal to your relationship needs.” the creature replied, reaching into his coat and pulling out a few flowers. “For you…”
“Oh, thank you, Doc; you’re sweet~” the young male replied, taking the flowers and smelling them for a second, then sticking them in the empty vase on the nightstand. “Doc, if you don’t mind me asking… What exactly does a person look like with… the disease?”
“The Great Pestilence? Oh, why, I’m very glad you asked~! However, I’m not sure that I could explain in words… You see, I notice it, but no one else seems to… Do not worry, Skully; I will not let you become infected…”
